At various times in his life, he has lived in Switzerland, England, Peru, and the West Indies, in addition to multiple areas in the USA.
Since becoming a physician, he has practiced medicine and public health in South America and Asia, in addition to the USA. He has worked at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Tulane universities, at the USA Centers for Disease Control, and as a consultant to the World Health Organization.
Dr. Witzig’s medical specialties are medicine, infectious diseases, tropical medicine, public health, and health and human rights, and he has published on malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS in the scientific press.
He currently maintains international medical projects, and has discovered that playing soccer within a community allows him to quickly socialize and form professional and friendly relationships when working with people on complex health problems worldwide.
A portion of the books sales are donated to autism, AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis research and treatment projects.
